My name is James Hughes, and I’ve been a client of Black Swan for about 20 years. I’m also a non-executive director.
Over the last 20 years, Black Swan has helped me with all sorts of things, from simple stuff like ISAs to pensions, personal pensions for me, as well as for my children and my wife. Probably the most complex work I’ve done for my family was for my father. They’ve helped with pension consolidation, because my father had quite a long career and had lots of little pension pots trailing him around. Black Swan consolidated all of them into a nice single, organised and efficient pot.
Working with Andy Peters at Black Swan makes me feel very relaxed about my financial arrangements – I think about them less because I don’t need to. My financial arrangements are in safe hands, so I don’t need to worry about it. I don’t think about it. It’s now just less of a stress point in my life.
My wife likes working with Andy too, but sees less of him than I do. However, she also feels like she’s in safe hands, and after each meeting feels like she doesn’t have to worry about things. Everything’s taken care of and looked after.
If I wasn’t working with Black Swan, I don’t think I’d feel so comfortable or at ease with my financial arrangements or financial future. I would miss that feeling of comfort security.
Three words to summarise Andy and Black Swan? Trustworthy: that’s got to be the first and most important one. Methodical: if I ask for something, whether it’s for something to be done or for information, I know I’ll get it. Transparency: I know exactly what I’m getting, and everything’s laid out in black and white. It’s presented to me in a non-confusing way, because it can be quite a confusing industry to be involved in.
The best thing about working with Black Swan is knowing that my personal finances are being properly taken care of, because this is a very important part of managing and planning your life and future. You want to know that it’s being done properly by professionals. I certainly wouldn’t want to do it myself, and I feel like I’m in safe hands with Black Swan.
I would definitely recommend Black Swan to other people, and I do. Because everyone has the same needs; everyone needs to sort out their personal finances and plan for their futures. So, whether it’s a friend, family member or colleague, anyone I come across who expresses a need or desire to sort things out for themselves or their families, I’m very happy to introduce them to Andy at Black Swan.
