Fundraising update: London Bridges and a bike delivered
Posted onLast month we revealed some of the fundraising efforts we’re getting involved in this year, including a partnership with 52 Lives and a charity walk to raise contributions; we’ve got an update on both for you.
London Bridges charity walk
To boost our fundraising efforts for the charity 52 Lives, the Black Swan Financial team planned to undertake a 25-kilometre walk across London Bridges on Thursday 25th July. Unfortunately for us, that day ended up breaking record temperatures with the mercury inching close to 35ºC!
So, we decided to postpone the walk and have rebooked it for Thursday 29th August, when, hopefully, it will be a little cooler. We’ll still be starting at Putney Bridge and ending up at Tower Bridge.
There is some good news in delaying the walk though, it allows us to raise even more money for the deserving causes that 52 Lives helps. We’ve raised our target to £720 and are already more than 70% of the way to achieving it. You can get involved here.
Our first 52 Lives cases
Charity 52 Lives aims to change someone’s life every week of the year. The cases are diverse, but each one can have a positive impact.
Our first case was to help a family whose son, Andrew, had been diagnosed with Late Infantile Batten Disease. The family needed a mobile hoist to help Andrew enjoy the outdoors more and a bike for his little sister Faith, who’s been through a difficult time and had to adjust too. Luckily, our fundraising efforts meant we were able to help 52 Lives reach their target.
We’re thrilled to reveal that Faith’s bike has arrived and is already being put to good use. After putting herself last for a couple of years when her brother became ill, it’s fantastic to see her enjoying the outdoors on her new wheels with a big smile on her face. As well as a bike, Faith also received a Halfords voucher to pick out her own helmet and accessories to match.
The mobile hoist for Andrew has been delivered too and will make life easier at a practical level for the family. It’ll also help improve his life, enabling him to enjoy a swing in the garden and visiting his grandparent’s house more often. Andrew’s mum Joanne said: “We are just so grateful to everyone who helped provide the hoist for us. And faith is riding around the house on her bike and has the biggest smile on her face.”

Once again, a big thank you to everyone that’s supported our efforts.
