At Black Swan, we believe in the importance of working with charities to deliver a positive social impact.
For this reason, we proudly support 52 Lives and The Magpie Project, whose work has an invaluable impact on the lives of the people they serve. You can read a little more about our charity partners, the important work they do and how we are working to support them, here.
Jaime Thurston, Founder of 52 Lives
52 Lives aims to change someone’s life every single week of the year. The cases are diverse, but each one can have a positive impact.
52 Lives is based on the simple premise that people are good. And lots of good people working together can achieve amazing things. We believe that unexpected kindness has the power to change lives.
People from all over the world can nominate someone in need of kindness. Every week, 52 Lives choose someone to help, share their story, request what they need and – who knows – maybe change a life…. or at the very least spread a bit of kindness.
The Magpie Project
The Magpie Project, winner of the 2019 London Homelessness Award, provides practical support and advice to mothers and children under five who are in temporary or insecure accommodation in the London Borough of Newham. Many have suffered domestic abuse and are threatened with homelessness. The Magpie Project aims to ensure that a spell in temporary accommodation does not cause permanent damage to children who experience it.
The Magpie Project is situated not far from our office in the City (only a 20 minute train ride), so we at Black Swan have adopted this as our local charity and try to visit and help out as much as we can.
“We believe all children have a right to a secure, safe place to play, healthy food, engaged parents, and access to support no matter what their family circumstances. We can’t solve the housing crisis, but we believe in making mums and children’s lives better during their time in temporary accommodation.” (The Magpie Project)
A quick update on our charity work
As you may already know, we’ve been working with the Magpie Project for some time. The incredible charity provides a safe, fun space for single mothers with children under five suffering in temporary or insecure accommodation.
A Christmas visit to the Magpie Project
We recently revisited our friends at the wonderful charity the Magpie Project in Forest Gate, London. The charity provides much-needed support and advice to mothers and children under five in temporary or insecure accommodation in the borough of Newham.
Lending a helping hand to the Magpie Project
Our adopted charity, 52 Lives, introduced us to a local charity in need of our help called the Magpie Project in Forest Gate, London. The charity helps mums and children under the age of five, who are homeless or in temporary accommodation.
Update: Our London Bridges charity walk
We successfully completed the walk on 29 August 2019 and surpassed our target of raising £500 for charity (£638 raised so far)!
Fundraising update: London Bridges and a bike delivered
Last month we revealed some of the fundraising efforts we’re getting involved in this year, including a partnership with 52 Lives and a charity walk to raise contributions; we’ve got an update on both for you.
Fundraising 2019: Working with 52 Lives
Here at Black Swan Financial Planning, we’re keen to work with charities to deliver a positive impact. This year, we’ve decided to direct our fundraising efforts to 52 Lives.
