Charity
At Black Swan, we believe in the importance of working with charities to deliver a positive social impact.
For this reason, we proudly support 52 Lives and The Magpie Project, whose work has an invaluable impact on the lives of the people they serve. You can read a little more about our charity partners, the important work they do and how we are working to support them, here.
52 Lives

Jaime Thurston, Founder of 52 Lives
52 Lives aims to change someone’s life every single week of the year. The cases are diverse, but each one can have a positive impact.
52 Lives is based on the simple premise that people are good. And lots of good people working together can achieve amazing things. We believe that unexpected kindness has the power to change lives.
People from all over the world can nominate someone in need of kindness. Every week, 52 Lives choose someone to help, share their story, request what they need and – who knows – maybe change a life…. or at the very least spread a bit of kindness.
The Magpie Project

The Magpie Project, winner of the 2019 London Homelessness Award, provides practical support and advice to mothers and children under five who are in temporary or insecure accommodation in the London Borough of Newham. Many have suffered domestic abuse and are threatened with homelessness. The Magpie Project aims to ensure that a spell in temporary accommodation does not cause permanent damage to children who experience it.
The Magpie Project is situated not far from our office in the City (only a 20 minute train ride), so we at Black Swan have adopted this as our local charity and try to visit and help out as much as we can.
“We believe all children have a right to a secure, safe place to play, healthy food, engaged parents, and access to support no matter what their family circumstances. We can’t solve the housing crisis, but we believe in making mums and children’s lives better during their time in temporary accommodation.” (The Magpie Project)
